ആ കാലുകൾ

     അവളുടെ കാലുകളിൽ രാവും പകലും സംഗമിച്ചു. വെള്ളികൊലുസിൽ പറ്റികിടന്ന മണൽത്തരികൾ പതിയെ പൊഴിയാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു . സിമെന്റ് തറയിൽ അവളുടെ പാദങ്ങളുടെ നനുത്ത പാടുകൾ , സൂര്യന്റെ താപമേറ്റു മായാൻ  വെമ്പി കിടന്നു..

    ഞാൻ അവളെ - കൂടുതൽ specific ആയി പറഞ്ഞാൽ, അവളുടെ കാലുകളെ ചൂഴ്ന്നു നോക്കുന്നത് അവളറിഞ്ഞോ എന്തോ ? എന്തായാലും അറിഞ്ഞ ഭാവം നടിച്ചില്ല. അവളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ കടലിന്റെ ആഴവും പരപ്പും അളക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കയുകയാണെന്നു തോന്നി. എത്ര നേരം അവൾ അങ്ങനെ നിന്നോ എന്തോ? ഞാനും- എന്നാൽ എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ കടലിന്റെ ഭംഗി ആസ്വദിക്കയുന്നതിനു പകരം അവളുടെ കാലുകളിൽ ഉടക്കി കിടക്കുകയാണ്. ഇടയ്ക്കു വന്ന ഒരു ഫോൺ കാൾ അവളുടെ ആ നില്പിനു് സ്വല്പം ഭംഗം വരുത്തി. അല്പം നീരസത്തോടെ അവൾ സംസാരിച്ചു നിറുത്തി - തമിഴാണ് ഭാഷ.  എന്നിട്ടു പതിയെ നടന്നു തുടങ്ങി. ആ ഗോപുരത്തിന്റെ ആളൊഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു കോണിലേക്യു്. 

    എന്റെ ജിജ്ഞാസ വളർത്താൻ മാത്രം എന്ത് പ്രത്യേകതയാണ് അവളുടെ കാലുകളിൽ? ഒരു പക്ഷെ പതറി ഓടുന്ന എന്റെ മനസ്സിന്റെ പാഴ്‌വേലകളാകും ഇതെല്ലാം. ഈയിടെ ഞാൻ മനസിന്നെ കെട്ടിയിടാറില്ല- അതിന്റെ വഴിയേ വിടും; സ്വതത്രമായി വിഹരികയട്ടെ പഹയൻ. 

    അവൾ പോകാനൊരുങ്ങുന്നു. മനസ്സിൽ എന്തെന്നിലാത്ത ഒരു നഷ്ട്ടബോധം. വെള്ളികൊലുസിട്ട ആ പാദങ്ങൾ ഒന്ന് തൊടാൻ തോന്നി. എന്റെ സ്നേഹസമാനമായി ഒരു ചുംബനം ആ മണൽ പുരണ്ട കൊലുസിൽ പതിക്യാനും . ഒരു പക്ഷെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കയാലും ഇനി കണ്ടു മുട്ടാൻ ഇടയില്ലാത്ത ആ കാലുകൾക്കു എന്റെ പാർട്ടിങ് ഗിഫ്റ്. താഴോട്ടുള്ള ഇറക്കത്തിൽ അവൾ പതിയെ ഒന്ന് തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി, എന്നിട്ടു നടത്തം തുടർന്നു. ഞാൻ അപ്പോൾ പൊഴിഞ്ഞ ആ മണൽത്തരികൾ കണ്ടു പിടിക്കയാനുള്ള ശ്രമത്തിലായിരുന്നു...

Doctor G

     It has been a long time since I have watched a movie in a single stretch. I don’t know whether the problem is with the scripts or my aging brain have taken a call not to engage itself with anything. But luckily Doctor G was an exception. Whenever Ayshmaan Khurana comes up with a movie I watch it, and he rarely disappoints. The guy has got a knack for selecting the right scripts - mostly the unconventional topics right from his first outing. 

    Doctor G also takes the unconventional route, a male gynaecologist losing his "male touch" as its said in the movie. It could seem a lil weird and overstretched when we come to know that there are no male students other than him when the protagonist opts gynaecology in a famous medical college. Also some of the scenes seem a bit too filmy (for instance the delivery in the corridor). But these minor negatives don’t affect the narrative - but helps to get that little doses fun and emotion that the story requires - like Dr. G getting to see the baby for the first time and his eyes wells up - the scene's so touching; that’s the brilliance of writing and filmmaking, I believe. Also the protagonist not having a conventional love story was a good move. 

    When we have a subject like this , it’s good to have a woman at the helm of affairs and that’s what has happened with this one too. Anubhuti Kashyap has done her job well in her directorial debut on the big screen. Also she being a part of the writing camp was a good move. The cast is fabulous too with Ayushmaan taking the centre stage. Shefali shah is as imressive as ever as the HOD of gynec department. The rest of the cast is also neatly chosen with so many new faces and every single character gels with the narrative. Sheeba chadda as Dr. G’s mom is fabulous. 

    In nutshell I recommend Doctor G for a fun weekend watch as its streaming on NETFLIX now if you are ready to sob a bit and enjoys questioning the societal norms.
